The 26th Congress of the ESVCN took place in Basel, Switzerland

The Institute of Animal Nutrition and Dietetics, Vetsuisse-Faculty of the University of Zurich under the direction of Prof. Dr. Annette Liesegang, EBVS® European Specialist in Veterianry and Comparative Nutrition, Dipl. IVAS, FA Nutrition Dog and Cat GST, deals with research, teaching and services in connection with the feeding of farm animals as well as the nutrition of companion and zoo animals. Our particular focus is on the influence of diet on the well-being of the animals, on the quality of the food produced from farm animals and on dietetics. Members of the institute regularly give lectures and carry out 
continuing education events for veterinarians, companies and laypeople. Our special competence and research focus are the calcium, bone, cartilage, zinc and mineral metabolism and energy and protein metabolism of different animal species. In addition, studies with horses and in-vitro experiments on the digestibility of forage plants in horses are also carried out. Our nutritional consultation service for pets, horses, zoo animals and farm animals offers advice in dietetics and balanced rations according to the requirements of different species and provides a solid basis for the training of our residents to become a Diplomate of the ESVCN in veterinary and comparative nutrition (companion/large animal track).
